Self-Verification for Students using Chapter 30, 33 and 1606 Benefits:

Go to the VA’s website to Verify Your School Enrollment

  1. On their website there are instructions for various ways to verify your school enrollment: email, text, phone, etc.
  2. Self-Verification is to be completed once a month
  3. Failure to verify school enrollment can result in delayed monthly payments from the VA to the student

Self-Verification for Students using Chapter 35 (DEA) Benefits:

Go to the VA’s website to Verify Your School Enrollment using DEA Benefits

  1. Students using DEA Benefits may need to verify school enrollment to keep getting DEA benefits (check the award letter).
  2. Self-verification can be done via Ask VA, phone, or email.

Students using Chapter 31 (VR & E) Benefits:

No monthly self-verification is required from students who are using Chapter 31 benefits. Any questions about monthly stipend, increasing the amount of money for books, parking, or needing more supplies should be directed to the student’s assigned VR & E Counselor.
